is there any daily style?

"Hoy vienes de domingo" eso me han dicho esta mañana en la oficina, y yo me pregunto ¿de domingo? ¿cuál es el atuendo de un domingo? Os cuento mi outfit: blusa seda rosa palo + blazer nude + vaqueros pitillos + stilettos nude. Eso es un outfit de domingo? Perdonad la insistencia, pero es que me he quedado pensándolo todo el día! :)

"You come today with a Sunday outfit" this is what I have been told this morning in the office, and I wonder: sunday outfit? what's a sunday outfit? I describe you what I wore: pale pink silky blouse + nude blazer + skinny jeans + nude pumps. Is this a sunday stylism? Sorry for being so repetitive, but I have been thinking about it the whole day! :)

Ayer un amigo me preguntó por la importancia de la imagen, por qué me preocupo tanto por la ropa...vale, yo no soy representativa porque a mi me apasiona la moda y la ropa y los accesorios y nunca tengo suficiente...pero es cierto que la imagen dice mucho más que las palabras: dime cómo vistes y te diré quién eres....o a dónde vas!

Yesterday a friend asked me about the importance of oneself image, why I am so "worried" about clothing...allright, I'm not representative because I'm a fashion lover, I never have enough shoes, garments nor accessories...but it's true that one's image tells more than words: tell me how you dress and I tell you who you are...and where you go!

Por alusiones, voy a centrarme hoy en las posibles working girls del street style:

Referring to the first question, I'm going to focus today on possible working girls of the street style:

1. Trendy: en las que yo me inspiro, aunque no llevo a la práctica 100%, para mi ellas van siempre de 10, adaptadoras de las tendencias de pasarela a la vida real.

1. Trendy: in whom I get inspired, though I don't follow them 100% I find them always perfect, they are who really adapt the runway trends to the real life.

2. Fashionista: son las que me gusta ver, pero no me atrevo a imitar (todavía), sus estilismos no pasan nunca desapercibidos, y son las auténticas street stylers.

2. Fashionist: those I like to watch, but I don't dare to imitate (so far), their never go unnoticed, they are the genuine street stylers.

3. Preppy: ese toque pijo que a todas se nos escapa de vez en cuando, sobre todo cuando tenemos que ir a una entrevista, reunión, feria... a mi me gusta la verdad!

3. Preppy: this posh touch we all have from time to time, specially when we have to go to an interview, meeting or exhibition...I like it, to be honest!

4. Clásica: el A B C de la banca, la consultoría, y el tipo de ejecutiva americana de las películas. Aunque tengas que ir clásica, siempre podrás darle tu toque personal en los complementos, y en la forma de llevar el uniforme. 

4. Classy: the A B C of banking and consultancy workers, and that type of american executive, seen in the movies. In any case, you can always add a personal touch with accessories, and the "way of wearing the uniform".

5. Alternativa: las más casual, las que su trabajo de oficina se lo permite, y las que se atreven. Quizá con las que menos me identifico, pero no por ello dignas de mención y de admiración!

5. Alternative: the coolest, the casual, those whose job allows them to wear like this, or those who dare. Perhaps those I don't feel much identified with, but they are of course to be mentioned and admired!

Por el ambiente (clasicón) que se respira en mi trabajo, creo que yo seré considerada la trendy o la fashionista...y siempre la "presumida".

Taking into account the (quite classy) environment of my office, I think I'm considered the trendy or the fashionist...and always the "vain".

pregnant but stylish

No no no, ni lo estoy ni se me pasa por la imaginación ;) Pero tenía pendiente dedicarle este post a una amiga que ya está "bastante embarazada" y que como todas, no se ve bien con nada y le cuesta encontrar prendas que le favorezcan, aunque dicho sea de paso, a las embarazadas poco les hace falta para estar guapas porque tienen siempre una cara de felicidad...!


No no no, I'm not and I don't want to think about it ;) but I promised this dedicated post to a friend who is "quite pregnant" already, who has the common problem to find flattering clothes which fit her..but to tell the truth, pregnants don't need much they all have a radiant happiness face...!

Como tengo experiencia 0 en esto, no hay nada mejor que observar lo que llevan las que saben de estilo y son mummys, tomad nota si es vuestro caso:


Since I have null experience in this field, there's nothing better than observing what who do know about style and are mummys, take note if it's your case:

1.Boho-mum: muy apropiado para ir más cómoda, sobre todo en verano, y de día, un look casual chic apto para todos los volúmenes.
1.Boho-mum: very proper if you want to go  comfy, specially in summer and during the day, a very casual chic suitable for every volumes.

2. Urban-mum: eres urbanita y no quieres renunciar a ese estilo, pues no lo hagas! los leggings y skinnies serán tus aliados, yo llevaría camisetas básicas con accesorios y mis chaquetas favoritas abiertas
2. Urban-mum: if you're urban lover and don't want to give up wearing your favourite clothes, don't do it! then leggings and skinnies are your allied, I'd wear them with loose basic tees and statement accessories, my of-the-season jackets open.

3.Working-mum: claro, el ritmo no para, así que yo optaría por las blusas, vestidos, cardigans y abrigos abiertos, como Stella Mccartney, va genial.

3. Working-mum: of course, your own pace doesn't stop, so you'd better go for blouses, dresses and cardigans, if needed, open coats, as seen on Stella Mccartney, she's fab!

4.Accessorized-mum: SIEMPRE, más cuando tienes alguna restricción de prendas, refúgiate en los accesorios, cinturones altos, collares largos, fulares llamativos..todo lo que te haga verte más guapa y realce la curva de la felicidad por excelencia.
4. Accessorized-mum: ALWAYS, even more important when you have some kind of clothing restrictions, take refuge in accessories, high and skinny belts, long necklaces, bright scarves..everything that make you feel flattered and enhance your " par excellence happiness curve"

5.Event-mum: tienes que acudir a una fiesta, boda o similar en pleno embarazo, opta por vestido de corte imperio, de amplia caída y a ser posible, de materiales ligeros, estarás guapísima y super femenina!
5.Event-mum: if you have to go to a party, wedding or similar event in the middle of your pregnancy, go for a below-the-bust cut, with a well hanging, light fabrics, you'll be stunning!

No suelo escribir sobre estilo y moda de hombres, pero hoy TENÍA que hacerlo, y es que ayer me hizo mucha ilusión ver en el telediario de la noche que se hablaba de la nueva moda masculina, que ya comenté yo aquí, los calcetines llamativos!

I don't write much about men style and fashion, but today I HAD TO. Yesterday I was so happy when in the TV news they talked about this new masculine trend, that I already posted about (here), that's the eyecatching socks!

Llevo viéndolo mucho tiempo en el mejor street style masculino, y cada vez me gusta más, por eso ya he convencido a mi chico para que se anime a darle color e imaginación a los calcetines, normalmente aburridos ejecutivos oscuros...

I have been observing it in the best men street style, and I like it more and more, that's why I managed to convince my boyfriend to start risking with the socks color, forgetting the boring dark ones for a while...

Yo lo asocio con el estilo de hombre italiano, que cuida hasta el más mínimo detalle, con ese toque de elegancia innato en ellos mezclado con el savoir faire fashion, también innato en ellos ¿?

I associate it with the pure italian men style, who pay attention to the latest detail, with their inborn elegance mixed with their fashion savoir faire, inborn too¿?

Sea como sea, me encanta el resultado, eso sí creo que hay que seguir unas reglas mínimas:

Anyway, I love the result, but I'm of the opinion that they should follow some basic rules:

1. Mejor con pantalones pitillos y ligeramente capris o remangados

1. Better with skinny and capri pants or rolled up

2. El color o estampado dentro de lo llamativo debería ser "combinable" con el resto del outfit

2. The bright color or print must be anyhow "matched" with the rest of the outfit

3. Genial con zapatos clásicos, de ante, tipo oxford y con traje!

3. Ideally with classic shoes, suede oxfords, and with suit!

Chicas lectoras, animaos a alegrar los outfits de vuestros novios y maridos con un toque de color en los pies, no me digáis que no es fácil...y barato!

My reader women, take up cheering up your boyfriends and husbands' outfits with a small touch of color in their feet, it could't be easier..and cheaper!

vintage attitude

Vintage es el término empleado para referirse a objetos o accesorios de calidad que presentan cierta edad, los cuales sin embargo no pueden aun catalogarse como antigüedades- Wikipedia dixit.

Vintage is the word used to refer to things and accessories of certain quality and age, but still not considered antiques- Wikipedia dixit.

Si te pregunto qué te viene a la cabeza cuando digo "vintage" (pronúnciese como quiera), qué imágenes te vienen? A mí fotos de Portobello Market en Londres en primavera, de casa de campo con teteras metálicas en tonos pastel y manteles de flores, broches camafeos y bolsos de las abuelas...pero hoy en día yo creo que ser vintage es una actitud.

If I ask you now what's your idea of "vintage", which images come first to your mind? I see pictures of Portobello Market in London in Spring, a British cottage with flower print tableclothes and pastel metal teapots, cameo broochs and grandma's leather bags...but nowadays I think to be vintage is a matter of attitude.

Ahora lo más es ser vintage chic, es decir, ir tremendamente fashion pero con algo que antes decíamos de mercadillo y ahora ponemos "vintage", algo que no nos acordamos dónde compramos hace tiempo o no tiene marca, ahora se llama vintage. Y a mí me gusta el nombre, porque a veces son verdaderas "joyas".


Actually, now the coolest is to go vintage chic, in other words, go super trendy but with something before called "from flea market" and now "vintage", something we don't remember the brand or where we bought and now it's "vintage". And I have to say, I like this word, some things are really a treasure.

Será por eso que me cuesta tanto deshacerme de la ropa vieja... en qué momento lo demodé pasa a ser vintage?


This could be the reason why is hard for me to get rid of old clothes...when a demodé garment become vintage?

Entre las adolescentes europeas hay una fuerte tendencia a vestir vintage, aquí en España no tanto, al menos en el norte, pero poco a poco todos vamos adquiriendo toques de ese estilo: los cinturones de cuero con hebillas años 80, alpargatas, los bolsos desgastados tipo satchel y por supuesto, las ya nada vintage, gafas nerd.


Among the European teens there's a strong trend of wearing vintage, here in Spain not so much, at least in the North, but I see we have started to introduce some style details: old leather belts with 80's buckles, espadrilles, worn satchel bags and of course, the not  any more vintage, nerd glasses.

Pero si hay algo muy muy vintage, pero que podemos comprar "brand new" eso es ropa interior, no notáis que últimamente toda la lencería tiene un toque retro, digo, vintage ;)


But if there's anything very very vintage, but we can buy "brand new" is underwear, don't you find that there are retro, sorry I mean vintage, lingerie everywhere?

Dicho esto, yo no soy muy vintage, quizá no tengo tanta personalidad fashionil y me gusta más seguir las tendencias, pero es verdad que admiro a las que lo saben mezclar con prendas de temporada, me encanta el resultado, y aprender a hacerlo bien es mi reto!


Having said this, I'm not very vintage, maybe I don't have such a fashion personality and I do prefer to follow seasonal trends, but I admire more to those who know how to mix & match seasonal must haves and vintage clothes, I love the result, that's my challenge!

Siempre he pensado que las chicas que llevan el pelo muy corto, à lo garçon, en clave fashion, tienen una fuerte personalidad. No es nada fácil atreverse a dar ese paso, sobre todo cuando sobre pasarela y en la calle, las melenas mandan. Antiguamente se asociaba con la masculinidad, pero para mi es más bien todo lo contrario, no hay más femme fatale que una mujer con pelo corto y vestida ultra femenina.

I've always thought that girls with à lo garçon haircut should have a strong personality. It's not easy to decide for this cut, specially when what we see in runways and streets are on the contrary proud long hair women. In the past it was associated to the masculinity, but as for me it's just the opposite, there's no more femme fatale than a short hair woman wearing ultra feminine clothes.

Entre las celebrities hubo una moda, y a cada cual le sentaba mejor.

Among the celebrities, there was a boom some years ago, I couldn't choose the flatterest one...

En el street style también hay muy buenos ejemplos, no me digas qué no tienen un estilo super personal?

...y entre las bloggers? La verdad es que no son muchas las que se atreven, pero aquí está mi amiga que siempre llevó un look garçonette y ahora tiene blog recién estrenado: cosasquehacerantesdelos30 (qué gran título!) que me ha inspirado para escribir este post!

1. cuellos altos y con volúmen en contraste con el volumen de la cabeza.

1. turtle and voluminous neck, in contrast with the head volume.

2. collares grandes, ideales con un cuello largo y delgado

2. XXL necklaces, perfect for long and thin necks

3. maxi gafas, igualmente volvemos a jugar con los volúmenes

3. maxi glasses, to play again with the volumes

4. ropa ultrafemenina: faldas lápiz, tacones, escotes en V...

4. ultra feminine clothes: pencil skirts, high heels, V-necks...

En el detalle y las cosas pequeña está el estilo. 

Style is in small things and details.

Esa es mi reflexión del día, estoy convencida de que la forma de colocar, ponerse o destacar una misma prenda o accesorio marca la diferencia. Por qué no se ve igual una misma camisa blanca en dos chicas distintas? Yo me fijo mucho muchísimo en esas cosas, en las revistas, sabiendo que me es imposible llevar unos pitillos de Isabel Marant o un pañuelo de Céline me fijo en cómo lo llevan, para hacer lo mismo con el mio de Zara... y por la calle, se aprende tanto de las chicas estilosas de la calle!

That's my thought of today, I'm convinced that the way of placing, wearing or standing out a garment or accessory makes the difference. Why doesn't look like the same white shirt in two different women? I do pay much attention to all these things, when I "read" a fashion magazine, I know I won't buy a pair of Marant skinnies or a trendy Céline scarf, but I learn how they wear them and I do the same with my Zara's...obviously I learn a lot from the stylish girls in the street!

Por eso, ahora que estamos en época de "apretarse el cinturón" podemos conseguir estilos nuevos con sólo cambiar la forma de llevar las cosas, sólo hay que prestarle atención a los pequeños detalles, sin que parezcan forzados, el resultado tiene que ser natural y sencillo.

Because it's time of "tighten one's belt", we can get new styles with just a small change of the way of wearing the same things, it's just a matter of paying attention to the small details, the result must be simple and effortless.

1. El cinturón finito si es largo mejor, así le das un nudo
1. The belt, the thiner the longer, this way you can tie a knot

2. Deja una muñeca siempre libre, concentra reloj y pulseras en el mismo brazo
2. Leave always a wrist free, put watch and brazelets in the same arm

3. La camisa que asome del jersey un pico solo por encima del cinturón
3. The shirt or blouse should be shown, just one bottom side, at belt height.

4. Si llevas pantalones, nunca (haga el frío que haga) lleves bailarinas o stilettos con medias o calcetines de colores.
4. With pants, never (even when freezing) wear ballet flats or stilettos with colour tights nor socks

5. Cuello en pico: 0 adornos, Cuello redondo: collar o cuello llamativo
5. V-neck jumper: 0 ornaments, Rounded neck: bold necklace or collar

6. Jersey o blusa metido ligeramente (como por accidente) en la cintura por delante, largo por detrás
6. Jumper or blouse slightly (as accidentally) tucked in at waist height, in the front only

7. Blazer siempre remangada, si el forro no es distinto, entonces envuélvela con la camisa.
7. Always roll up your blazer sleeves, if the lining is not bright enough, then wrap your shirt sleeves over.

8. Y por su puesto, no combinar zapatos y bolsos anymore!
8. At last but not least, do not match your shoes with your bag anymore!
